Godeok's King of Value Omakase 'Sushi Mijin': A Truly Honest Review
2026-06-16 22:55
I'm going to reveal a secret that only people who truly live in Gangdong know.
Omakase = empty wallet. If you want to break this formula, go to Sangil-dong Station.
It's right in front of you when you get off Line 5. Godeok Central Prugio Shopping Center, 2nd floor (Godeok-ro 399). That's where 'Sushi Mijin' is.
Lunch is 50,000 won. Fifty thousand won.
But the course has 18 dishes. It's not about overwhelming you with quantity; each dish has a different variation, so while eating, I found myself thinking, "Is this really 50,000 won?" and unnecessarily checked the receipt twice.
The chawanmushi alone is a cheat code.
The aroma of truffle oil subtly lingers at the tip of your nose, and then octopus with yuzu zest on top comes in with another fragrant punch. It gently soothes your stomach.
The abalone is said to have been steamed for three hours at a low temperature. They give it to you with gaeu sauce to mix with rice... I wanted to order just one more bowl of rice for this.
But what really made my brow react first was the amberjack (yellowtail).
They serve it with minced garlic and truffle oil on top, which completely cuts through the amberjack's characteristic richness, leaving only umami. Nine out of ten people who've been here talk about this first.
The mackerel bozushi is lightly seared with a torch, making it completely free of any fishy smell. It goes down smoothly and cleanly.
Herring isobemaki, refreshing flounder with lime juice, Jeju grilled hairtail sushi deboned without a single bone, and even shiitake mushroom sushi with a rich aroma. There isn't a single piece that feels like an afterthought.
Honestly, there were a few things that were a bit disappointing.
The ankimo (monkfish liver) was served on a biscuit, and the textures felt a bit disconnected? I thought it would have been better if it were served as gunkanmaki instead.
And there's no white wine. Wine lovers might be a little disappointed, but draft beer is available.
Dessert finishes with tomatoes pickled in plum syrup and mochi-ri dofu.
This mochi-ri dofu is smoother than most pub desserts. It leaves your palate feeling completely refreshed.
Oh, right, I almost forgot to mention the chef.
He checks if the amount of rice (shari) is appropriate throughout the meal, and for guests who seem to need more, he subtly offers extra futomaki at the end. He's very generous.
This part is really important. Take notes.
It's fully booked even on weekday lunches. You absolutely must make a reservation in advance through Catchtable or Naver. It's 100% reservation-based, so if you just show up, you'll be turned away at the door.
Lunch starts around 12 PM for the first seating and 1:30 PM for the second, and dinner is at 7 PM. They are closed on Sundays.
Prices are 50,000 won for lunch and 100,000 won for dinner, though I heard the dinner price recently went up by 10,000 won. These things can change, so it's best to confirm when you make a reservation for peace of mind.
Parking... it's a bit tricky.
You use the building's parking lot, but some say free support is for 2 hours, while others say 3 hours. If you bring a car, don't get stressed out trying to park; just ask the staff when you enter.
It's suitable for dates, friend gatherings, and family meals. With this setup for 50,000 won, you won't get criticized no matter who you bring.
If you're looking for a second round, have a clean glass of wine with olives and pop cheese at 'Anna Snack' wine shop near Misa Station. (However, there's talk that this store is relocating, so search it up before you go.)
There's really no other place like this in Gangdong. Start by making a reservation.
